Launching The Wizard
Before any of this makes any sense at all, you'll need to launch the Karma Wizard control panel to see what we're talking about.

When you do this you will be assigned a unique skin number for your session and the original design will disappear. You'll be left with a blank slate, usually appearing as a white background with black text depending upon your browser settings, and a minimal layout.

The control panel will pop-up with the layout tab as the first thing you see ready for you to select your preference.
Section Selection

The top dropdown box that defaults to "layout" when the Karma Design Wizard control panel is launched holds easy navigation to other tabs:

Apply Changes
When you've made changes in the Wizard control panel and ready to see the results of your edits, press [Apply Changes] at the bottom. The control panel will grey-out with a notice that the changes are being applied. Once finished, the site will automatically refresh and you'll see your changes.

Tip: You don't have to click [Apply Changes] after every single edit. In fact, you can skip to different areas within the Wizard such as "body" or "footer", make your changes, and only click [Apply Changes] at the very end of the process if you wish.
Load Design
If you want to work on a pre-made design or one that you've previously saved, do so by clicking the [Load Design] button.

Once the button is clicked you'll be taken to another tab where you can browse for the .karma file. When you've found the design you want to work on, select it and the click [Upload].

Tip: Be aware that only designs that were previously made with the Karma Wizard can be successfully uploaded. If you have a question about whether your site's design can be uploaded read this.
Save Design
When you are finished working on your design for the moment and need to close your session, don't forget to save your work! You can do this by clicking [Save Design]. You will be prompted to save the design which by default is called design.karma.

Tip: Like any other file you are free to rename it as long as you keep the .karma extension. To save different versions of your design along the way, give them different names that you will be sure to remember.
Clear All
The [Clear All] button will erase everything that you've entered into the Wizard. This comes in handy if you've constructed a design, saved it, and want to start on a new one.

When you click [Clear All] an alert box will appear telling you it will erase everything and ask you if you are sure you want to proceed. You must click "OK" to continue. "Cancel" will take you back to where you were with nothing changed. This saves you from disaster and a lot of frustration in case you accidentally click the [Clear All] button.

General

The Main Links are the principal navigation in your website to other "pages" and arguable the most important part of your site. Depending on your layout they can appear in different places; some are horizontal and under the header, some are vertical and above the teasers, others are at the very top of the page, and some are split into horizontal and vertical groups.

The links can be split into two groups in the KarmaCMS main preferences by inserting the dashed line, "---". When they are split they are controlled by main links group 1 and main links group 2. The dashed line isn't inserted by default so all links are in group 1 unless you change that.

In every situation the main links are a variable height so a height should never be placed on them. Anything under this div should be able to move down naturally as the main links expand. Usually it is the flexible nature of the main links that throws designers not experienced with dynamic design for a loop.

The Karma Wizard is currently in beta testing, meaning that it is pretty stable, but there still may be a few bugs or other issues to shake out. If you encounter any problems, please send an email to bugs@karmawizard.com and we'll try to address them as quickly as possible.
